This evening I opened my email and found a most welcome message: Fujitsu has released their patched version of the ScanSnap software for Snow Leopard.
[UPDATE: I spoke too soon—they only delivered half of the goods. See below.]
[UPDATE 2: Hurray! It's fixed! The birds are chirping and the sun is shining and life is good!]

A silly tip for the tips of your USB cables
Thursday, 23 July 2009
Life is too short to keep trying to figure out which side of a cable fits where. Here’s my silly little tip for simplifying one miniscule part of your life.
Life’s too short to fight with a lame shredder
Tuesday, 16 June 2009
Anyone who is packing serious scanning hardware should also be packing serious shredding hardware. It may not matter if another Capital One offer slips into the trash intact, but there’s no way I’m going to dispose of old tax records or medical records without rendering them completely useless to the enemy.
Here is my own short list of things to look for when you are buying a new shredder.
Can there be life without a printer? (Part 2)
Tuesday, 7 April 2009
Last week I wrote about some different ways that you can get around having a photo printer in your home. Indeed, the ubiquitous photo inkjet printer tends to introduce frustration in a life that has no pressing need of more. In this article, I address the photo printer’s more formal companions: laser printers and their [...]
Can there be life without a Printer?
Tuesday, 31 March 2009
Even in a paperless home we occasionally need to print something. Why put up with all of the aggravation that comes with the care and feeding of a printer when there are so many other options available?
Smooth out the bumps in your workflow with desktop scripting tools

Are those little drives different?
I’m fairly certain that those pocket drives are all the same inside, [...]
What should you have in your toolbox?

A list of several useful hardware and software tools with which to arm yourself before you attack the file cabinet.
When I first became interested in woodworking, I checked out several books on the subject from the library. Invariably, within the first two or three chapters, there was an illustrated list of desirable hand tools for [...]
If there aren’t two copies in separate places, it isn’t a backup!
Thursday, 19 February 2009
A short while ago I was reading some poor guy’s blistering rant of how his Drobo died, taking about a terabyte of data with it. It’s a tragic situation, and your heart goes out to the fellow.
Don’t be that guy!
The Drobo is one of the most talked about external storage devices, boasting an amazing ability to juggle [...]
It’s all about searching
Thursday, 5 February 2009
The first time I searched for a random scanned document on my computer—and found it—I realized that this is one of the greatest benefits of the paperless home. This is one area where traditional paper lacks. And with the free products available today, there’s no need to be without.
In this article, I describe two searching [...]
