Of course a personal wiki is not for everybody—in the past I have written about building a Linux NAS device, but that’s not for everyone either. I learned that the hard way trying to get various organizations I worked at to use wikis. Most of the commercially hosted wikis available for a low monthly fee feature a much nicer editor that doesn't require learning a formatting syntax. These options also take out all the complexity of setting up and managing the software stacks required for the open source wikis.
